Associate Dean
Role Profile
Under the direction of the Dean, Faculty of Media and Creative Arts, the Associate Dean provides academic and administrative leadership to the faculty, staff and students of the Faculty.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Human resource management & development, including SWF allocations and professional development.
- Program/ curriculum development and review including on-line learning and continuing education offerings.
- Applied research initiative development including publications and presentations.
- Development and implementation of Faculty student success initiatives such as student retention.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
Experience
The incumbent will have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a related position. Experience in teaching and/or counselling at an established and well-recognized educational institution, as well as teaching and work experience in any of the following fields: advertising, public relations and marketing, media and digital communications is preferred. Demonstrated responsible administrative or leadership experience at the community college or university level.
The incumbent will have a minimum of 7-years professional experience in a related position. Experience in teaching and/or counselling at an established and well-recognized educational institution, as well as teaching and work experience in any of the following fields: advertising, public relations and marketing, media and digital communications is preferred. Demonstrated responsible administrative or leadership experience at the community college or university level.
Skills
- Demonstrated competence in program and schedule planning and evaluation.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in advanced level college or university curriculum development.
- Computer literacy skills for administrative purposes.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills including public speaking; excellent listening skills, conflict resolution, negotiation skills.
- Consensus-building skills; ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and nonacademic staff.
- Knowledge of broader social, employment and economic context as it relates to existing and potential course offerings of the Faculty.
