Full Time Lecturer - ARAD

Job Description

The Program in Arts Administration in the Department of Arts and Humanities at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a candidate to fill a three-year full time appointment, with a strong emphasis on fundraising and entrepreneurship in the arts, primary and secondary auction markets and/or the performing arts.

 

We will accept applications from candidates with a strong academic background in Arts Administration, Management, or relevant social science disciplines. 

 

Lecturers at TC have a five course load per year, and an expectation that they deliver core and elective course content, act as an academic and thesis advisor. Other duties may include organizing enrichment events or overseeing our Internship Program, among others. 

 

Lecturers at TC are represented in the Faculty Executive Committee and invited to all faculty meetings, which lecturers are expected to attend. They are also eligible for TC faculty fellowships and grants.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Arts Administration or Management, or relevant social science
  • Graduate level teaching experience
  • Understand and critically engage with the broader context for the arts and arts markets (e.g., sociological, historical, political dimensions)
  • A capacity to advise students in the design and development of masters theses and projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching fundraising and/or entrepreneurship in the arts
  • Expertise in primary and secondary auction markets and/or performing arts
  • Ability to lead an Internship Program
  • Experience in small team leadership, a capacity for navigating complex bureaucracies, and skill with conflict negotiation
