Studio Manager
Seeking a part or full-time studio manager to help run the day-to-day operations for an artist studio outside of Los Angeles. Start date is somewhat negotiable. The studio manager will work closely with the artist to ensure projects run smoothly and on time.
Generally the Studio Manager will work remotely but some travel to the Artist's studio and off-site projects might be required.
The primary responsibilities include general office administration, inventory and information management, exhibition support, and shipping.
Of central importance in the position is clear, courteous and effective correspondence with artists, clients and vendors. With a multitude of responsibilities, candidates must have exceptional multitasking and organizational skills, have the ability to work independently and unguided, in a sometimes high-pressure environment.
As it is a small team there is the opportunity to pursue varied aspects of the business based on need, interest and experience.
Working hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday, with additional support required around exhibitions and special projects.
Responsibilities included, but are not limited to:
Admin:

Managing the day-to-day administrative duties for the artist: including the shared calendar, scheduling meetings, travel arrangements, exhibition coordination and conferences / screenings / speaking engagements.

Liaising with the artist's gallery, museums and third party vendors

Processing incoming correspondence and invoices

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date hardcopy and electronic files

Preparing for meetings by generating agendas, researching attendees, taking notes as required, etc.
Archiving:

Managing the inventory and archiving of the artists’ artwork, including prints and originals, and helping to create and maintain an inventory and archive.

Performing and managing all ancillary duties including but not limited to project planning and logistics, material and technology R&D, studio admin and technical support, and communication.

Problem solving technological issues and backing up computers and servers to external drives.
Qualifications:

Preferred, BA in Art History, Art Admin or related field (this is flexible)

Proficiency of Mac OS, Artbase, and Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Working knowledge of Squarespace is highly preferable.

Self-motivated, proactive and reliable; quick learner, ability to work independently and goal-oriented; highly organized, strong attention to detail.

Responsible, diplomatic and extremely discreet with confidential information.
